I won't tell tales & tell you it was a breeze. Any crafter, I'm sure, will agree that letting things go & wondering if you should keep, is a challenge. I considered selling them, but I know myself. I'll say something like "but what if" & it will find its way back in my stash, forgotten once again!
In the end, I was happy with what I had decluttered. I was happy to sit at the desk and start a new project of greeting cards. It's become easier for me to see & find what I'm looking for & use them to make art. I feel lighter, happier, & able to craft more freely without being overwhelmed. I believe sometimes, it's as simple as that. So far, I've found, I'm more creative when I don't have all the gadgets & gizmos & the overflow of paper. Something about the simplicity (for me) forces my brain to be more creative & less focused on making it turn out a certain way. I just go with the flow & tadah! I've created something beautiful.
So neighbor, I hope this has been encouraging to you. I'm not telling you to do exactly as I do. I'm saying that sometimes, consider just keeping things simple & see where it takes you.
Until next time,
Ruthie

Hello Neighbor!
Toward the end of last year, I found myself avoiding my craft desk. This was difficult because my desk is not only for crafting but also for work. I know what you're thinking - yeah, my multi-tasking skills are on fleek (haha)! Seriously though, the mess at my desk was more overwhelming than usual. It always turned into a mess when I crafted, & that never bothered me before...so what was different?
Too many options. My time spent on social media inspired me to go out & buy things that weren't necessary. The galore of papers & gadgets I had & hardly used, sat collecting dust in various places because I wasn't able to see them (out of sight, out of mind). So, when I sat at my desk to craft something new, I didn't know where to start. In fact, I wanted to run, sleep, read, anything but crafting.
I decided to do something I didn't ever think I would do. I decluttered. Don't get me wrong, I've decluttered before but not my craft stuff! The thought of doing it bought both excitement & anxiety. I almost chickened out completely until I remembered my parents. My parents are hoarders. I watch the show "Hoarders". The idea of having something I love, possibly be the death of me, straightened me out quickly. I grabbed a box and began the decluttering process.
A picture of the start of my decluttering: It may not look like much, but this is just the few out of the many!
