My Workspace

Take a tour of my workspace. To be neat or not to be neat. That is the question!

CAPTURING CREATIVITY

Hello Neighbor,

Happy 2024! I was looking through some pictures from last year and came across this one; a picture of my workspace. I started the caption with: "I guess we're close friends now 'cause I just risked it all for you!"

On Instagram, most of the pictures I see of workspaces are manicured art. When I look at this picture of my desk, it's actually a good day. Normally, when I'm working deeply on a project, every space is covered in paper. In this picture, I must have just gotten started, or I've started to clean up. Yet, you'll be happy to know that my workspace does get clean after every project. In fact, I can't work on another project until I have cleaned my desk. I don't know why that is.

Let's take a tour shall we? At the time I took this picture, I had three-four feet tables (I've recently replaced the table closer to yourself with a six-feet table instead). The one in the far back where the monitor is, is my computer desk. This is where the technical work gets done: uploading pictures, checking emails, & updating websites. The file cabinet you see there, holds my numerous books of Happy Planner stickers, extra washi tapes, ribbons, & thing-of-majiggies! On the left side of the table is a bin with five drawers where I keep all my 12x12 cardstock paper. Above the bin is a mini bookshelf. I'm currently in the process of trying to read through some of it.

Coming back around, passing the keyboard and moving to the middle desk is my actual workspace. This desk is where all my projects are created. The acrylic clear containers are holding more stickers, and more washi tapes. I have another container (not quite in the picture) that holds beads, charms, anything that creates dangles. I was using a glass jar to hold my staple items such as: scissors, pencil, pen, ruler, etc I have upgraded it since this picture).

You'll also notice I have two lamps. The one that's closer to the edge of the picture is my original lamp. I've had it for years. It's nice and extremely bright. My husband calls it God's flashlight! The other lamp is fairly new. It's the Canvas lamp. It allows me to take video & pictures of my work in able to post it to Instagram. It is one of the best products I have invested in, for the business.

On the right of that table is where my cutting tools are. I'm currently using three paper cutters, each for different reasons (I'll talk about that in a later post). Although, that table is supposed to be my designated cutting table, it doesn't always turn out that way. Most times, it holds the overflow of the papers from the project I'm working on. There you have it. It's not much. I live in a small apartment and don't have the space I wish to have but it's cozy and it makes me happy.

Until next time friend,

Ruthie
